Project Officer – Membrane & Separation Technology

About the role

The Nanyang Environment and Water Research Institute (NEWRI) seeks a Project Officer to lead research on membrane and separation technologies aimed at desalination, resource recovery, and decarbonisation. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to develop and optimise pilot‑scale and laboratory‑scale water treatment systems.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct membrane‑based projects for desalination, decarbonisation, and resource recovery.
• Assist in design, optimisation, construction, commissioning and operation of pilot‑scale and lab‑scale membrane systems.
• Perform membrane and separation process modelling, including conventional and machine‑learning approaches.
• Publish research data and prepare progress reports.
• Support the preparation of grant proposals.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, environmental, mechanical engineering or a related field from a reputable university.
• Relevant research experience in membrane technology, separation technologies, and electrochemical processes.
• Experience with electrode synthesis and scaling up electrochemical water technologies.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently and collaboratively.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
