Project Officer (Nanomaterials)

About the role

The Institute for Digital Molecular Analytics and Science (IDMxS) at NTU seeks a Project Officer to advance machine‑learning‑driven, array‑based nanosensors for detecting complex mixtures. The role combines nanomaterial design, spectroscopic measurement, data analysis, and computational modelling.

Key responsibilities

• Design and functionalise nanoparticles with diverse molecular receptors for array‑based sensing.
• Perform surface‑enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) measurements to probe receptor‑analyte interactions.
• Build and maintain a spectroscopic database covering multiple receptor‑analyte pairs.
• Process, analyse and interpret spectroscopic data.
• Conduct in‑silico investigations using density functional theory (DFT) simulations.
• Apply machine‑learning techniques to select and optimise receptor combinations for specific analytical tasks.
• Support the Principal Investigator in preparing research papers and scientific outputs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, materials science or a related discipline.
• At least three years of research experience in nanomaterial synthesis, characterisation, surface functionalisation, or molecular sensing.
• Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary research environment.
