Quantity Surveyor – Construction Cost Management

About the role

The Quantity Surveyor will support Office Planner’s construction projects by managing costs, procurement and payment processes. Reporting to the senior management team, you will ensure accurate quantity certification, timely subcontractor awards and effective handling of variations to protect project budgets and schedules.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and verify cost comparison sheets, ensuring quantities, specifications and exclusions align with tender budgets.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to secure awards within defined timeframes (3‑4 months) and maintain resource availability.
• Certify quantities and issue payment responses promptly, providing documentation and resolving discrepancies with site teams.
• Validate and process variation orders (VO) submitted by subcontractors, assessing cost impact and updating the cost management register within 7 working days.
• Monitor back‑charges, admin charges and final account settlements, ensuring deductions are up‑to‑date.
• Track project cost performance, flagging potential overruns or savings when quantities reach 70 % of the awarded scope.
• Issue Letters of Acceptance, Work Orders and Variation Orders in collaboration with the administration department.

Required profile

• Executive‑level experience in quantity surveying or construction cost control.
• Strong understanding of procurement, payment certification and variation management.
• Ability to work closely with site engineers, SCM, CM and senior management to resolve issues quickly.
• Attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
