R&D Intern – Process & Applications Engineering (Water Treatment)

About the role

The R&D Intern will join the Applications and Process Engineering team to help develop, test, and optimise wastewater treatment solutions for municipal, industrial and specialised clients. You will gain hands‑on experience with physical, chemical and advanced treatment technologies in a fast‑paced, research‑driven environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in characterising wastewater samples (COD, TSS, pH, TOC, conductivity, ions).
• Support bench‑scale and pilot‑scale experiments for coagulation‑flocculation, oxidation (AOP/Fenton), adsorption and membrane filtration (UF/NF/RO).
• Collect, analyse and interpret performance data to evaluate treatment efficiency.
• Prepare process flow diagrams, perform mass‑balance calculations and draft preliminary process designs.
• Write technical reports, test summaries and proposal inputs for client applications.
• Operate laboratory instruments such as TOC analyser, ion chromatography, pH meter and assist with advanced analyses (LC‑MS/MS, ICP‑OES).

Required profile

• Background in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry or related disciplines.
• Knowledge of mass transport, membrane separation and inorganic/organic chemistry is an advantage.
• Experience with water chemistry or water testing is a plus.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, semi‑autonomous environment and handle multiple tasks.
• Strong communication, presentation skills and a proactive, curious attitude.
