Research Assistant – AI for Mathematics Learning

About the role
The National Institute of Education is seeking a Research Assistant to support the AI4SoL project within the Office for Research. The role involves contributing to a 12‑month study that evaluates large language models for improving mathematics word‑problem solving through dialogic practice.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in the design and implementation of experiments testing LLM‑driven adaptive structured inquiry.
- Support data collection, including process data from the learning system.
- Help analyse outcomes related to problem‑solving accuracy, metacognition, and self‑regulation.
- Contribute to documentation of findings and preparation of research reports.
Required profile
- Interest in the intersection of artificial intelligence and education research.
- Ability to work on a renewable 12‑month contract in a research environment.
