Research Assistant – Centre for Research in Pedagogy and Practice

About the role

The National Institute of Education seeks a Research Assistant for a two‑year fixed‑term contract to support the Core 4 Main Study, an empirical investigation of instructional practices in Singapore primary and secondary classrooms.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct literature reviews, prepare reports and assist the Principal Investigator in writing papers and presentations.
• Collect and manage data (surveys, classroom observations, video/audio recordings, focus groups), transcribe and perform qualitative and quantitative analysis.
• Handle project administration tasks such as scheduling, liaising with teachers and preparing research materials.
• Maintain the research data repository, including a Network Attached System (NAS), and support website management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social sciences, education, statistics or a related field.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with strong communication and organisational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Required skills

• Experience with SPSS and/or NVivo for data analysis.
• Familiarity with classroom observation, video data coding and large‑scale data management.
• Knowledge of Network Attached Systems (NAS) and basic website setup/management.
