Research Assistant – Education Pathways Study

About the role

The National Institute of Education is seeking a Research Assistant for a 9‑month fixed‑term contract to support the DRREAMS longitudinal cohort study on adolescent educational pathways in Singapore.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and managing a representative sample of 9,000 secondary students.
• Conduct and oversee survey data collection, including follow‑up waves and sub‑studies.
• Perform statistical analyses such as factor analysis and regression to explore drivers of educational pathways.
• Maintain databases, ensure data quality, and prepare reports for the research team.
• Support qualitative components, including interviews and observations where required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Psychology, Sociology, or a related discipline.
• Familiarity with the Singapore mainstream and special education systems.
• Experience with survey design, data collection, and management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in small and large teams.

Required skills

• Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
• Statistical software such as SPSS, R, Stata, or Mplus.
• Qualtrics for online survey administration.
• Database management and basic grant‑writing/IRB knowledge.
