Research Assistant - Palliative Care

About the role

The Research Assistant position is based in the Department of Palliative Medicine and works within a team of Research Assistants supporting the Principal Investigators in their clinical research activities. The role contributes to palliative care research aimed at improving clinical care and patient outcomes, working closely with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Assist doctors in preparing study protocols and other regulatory matters
• Help recruit and screen study participants, take consent, collect test samples and follow up patients
• Request medical records from Health Information Services and ensure they are returned on time
• Maintain a log of completed cases and review medical records to extract data and complete study forms
• Assist with data entry and data analysis
• Ensure study progress follows the schedule
• Conduct face-to-face and phone interviews with patients and their carers using questionnaires and scales prescribed by the protocol
• Coordinate research meetings related to the studies and carry out other tasks assigned by the supervisor

Required profile

• Relevant degree in sciences
• Strong interest in research; relevant experience preferred but not compulsory
• Team-oriented, self-motivated and proactive, able to work independently
• Willingness to learn new things
