Research Associate – Mechanical/Electrical/Power Engineering

About the role

We are seeking a Research Associate to lead numerical modelling and develop optimal control strategies for energy systems, including building energy, storage and fire systems, within the Energy Research Institute at NTU.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and integrate credible data sources, standardising formats for simulation reliability.
• Apply AI and machine‑learning techniques to accelerate numerical simulations.
• Develop and validate optimal control strategies for various energy systems.
• Publish journal and conference papers and support patent applications.
• Report research progress regularly to the principal investigator and team.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in mechanical, electrical or power engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 1 year experience in numerical simulations and control.
• Familiarity with building energy system modelling tools such as Matlab, Modelica, TRNSYS, FDS or OpenFOAM.
• Knowledge of experimental methods for energy and battery storage systems.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
