Research Engineer – Cryptography (6‑month contract)

About the role

The School of Computing and Information Systems (SCIS) at Singapore Management University is seeking a Research Engineer on a six‑month contract. You will work closely with a research fellow/PI to design and evaluate advanced cryptographic algorithms, contributing to academic publications and cutting‑edge security research.

Key responsibilities

• Design cryptographic algorithms in collaboration with the research team.
• Develop and verify security proofs for the proposed schemes.
• Implement zero‑knowledge proofs and multi‑party computation (MPC) protocols.
• Benchmark implementations and draft comparative analysis for research papers.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by the research supervisor.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a closely related field with a focus on cryptography.
• At least 4 years of research experience in cryptography or cybersecurity.
• Proven track record of cryptographic research, preferably with publications.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small, agile academic team.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Rust programming language.
• Proficiency in Python programming language.
• Strong knowledge of zero‑knowledge proofs and multi‑party computation.
• Experience analyzing and proving the security of cryptographic algorithms.
