Research Engineer I (Computer Engineering/Computer Science/Electronics Engineering)

About the role

Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore, through its College of Computing and Data Science, is hiring a Research Engineer I. The role focuses on building and optimizing frontend interfaces and data visualizations for a Digital Twin platform, working with backend engineers and domain experts.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop intuitive frontend interfaces for the Digital Twin platform, enabling real-time visualization and interaction with complex system data such as battery systems, energy flows and simulations.
• Build and optimize interactive data visualization components (dashboards, charts, 3D views) using modern frameworks such as React and WebGL, ensuring high performance and responsiveness.
• Collaborate with backend engineers and domain experts to integrate APIs, simulation outputs and real-time data streams into seamless user experiences.
• Improve system usability and performance by implementing scalable frontend architectures, debugging issues and continuously improving latency, reliability and user interaction workflows.

Required profile

• Preferably a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
• Independent, highly analytical, proactive and a team player with good verbal and written communication skills.
• In-depth knowledge of the project domain and demonstrated ability to conduct innovative research.
• Ability to formulate hypotheses, design experimental plans and carry out experiments, including collaborating in multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to work some flexible hours; only shortlisted candidates will be notified.

Required skills

• Frontend development with modern frameworks such as React and WebGL.
• High-level expertise in the required experiment or modelling methods.
