Research Fellow (1 Year Contract) - AI Research

About the role

The Singapore University of Social Sciences is seeking a candidate for a renewable 1-year contract appointment as a Research Fellow within its University Research Office. The role centres on artificial intelligence research, including multi-agent systems and risk assessment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop multi-agent AI architectures for risk assessment and intervention.
• Develop decision-making models for risk scoring, intervention selection and escalation management.
• Evaluate and benchmark agentic AI systems using real-world and simulated threat scenarios.
• Conduct applied research on AI-driven cognitive circuit breakers and localized threat detection.
• Publish research findings in peer-reviewed international journals and premier academic conferences.
• Collaborate with government partners, agencies and institutional stakeholders on project alignment.
• Mentor and co-supervise junior research associates, engineers and student project teams.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science or a closely related discipline.
• Strong research background in AI, multi-agent systems, machine learning or privacy-preserving technologies such as differential privacy.
• Proven track record of high-quality research publications in international peer-reviewed journals or conferences.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills.

Required skills

• Strong programming in Python and deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
