Research Fellow - Building Energy System Control

About the role

The Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N), established in 2010, is a pan-university research institute focused on systems-level research for tropical megacities, covering the energy value chain from generation to end-use solutions. It is looking for a Research Fellow to support and drive excellence in scientific research and technological innovation, with a focus on sustainable and advanced building technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Support research activities and research project management
• Produce research outputs such as reports, publications and presentations
• Coordinate stakeholders in research projects
• Support research strategic development and the securing of funding
• Support research data management and documentation

Required profile

• PhD degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field
• At least 1 year of relevant experience in scientific research or hands-on experience in building energy/power system control and optimisation
• Familiarity with building energy/power system control and optimisation, building automation and control (BAC) systems, and AI and machine-learning applications
• Good written and oral communication skills

Required skills

• Power system modelling, advanced control theory (e.g. model-predictive control), and data-driven modelling and control methods (e.g. reinforcement learning, transfer learning)
• Programming tools such as MatLab, Python, Modelica, C and Fortran
