Job description
About the role
The School of Materials Science and Engineering at NTU seeks a Research Fellow to lead advanced electrocatalysis and electrochemical synthesis projects. The role involves designing catalysts, studying reaction mechanisms, and developing scalable electrochemical processes for selective conversion of organic molecules.
Key responsibilities
- Design, synthesize, and characterize electrocatalysts and electrode systems for selective electrochemical transformations.
- Conduct electrochemical measurements, optimize reactions, and evaluate activity, selectivity, Faradaic efficiency, stability, and kinetics.
- Investigate reaction pathways and interfacial mechanisms using electrochemical analysis, product analysis, and materials characterization.
- Develop and optimize electrochemical reactors, including high‑current‑density operation and techno‑economic feasibility studies.
- Maintain research records, prepare manuscripts, patents, reports, and presentations; mentor junior researchers and support laboratory safety.
Required profile
- PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong background in electrochemistry and electrocatalysis with research experience in organic electrosynthesis or related reactions.
- Demonstrated research track record with peer‑reviewed publications and ability to work independently.
- Excellent teamwork, mentoring, organizational, and communication skills.
Required skills
- Electrochemical testing and reaction optimization
- Catalyst or materials synthesis
- Quantitative product analysis and mechanistic investigation
- Reaction pathway analysis and electrocatalytic kinetics
- Structure‑activity/selectivity relationship assessment
- Reactor engineering, scale‑up, and techno‑economic analysis (advantageous)
