Research Fellow – Physical Education & Sports Science

About the role

The National Institute of Education seeks a Research Fellow for its newly established Research Centre for Sport, Physical Activity, and Health within the Physical Education and Sports Science Department. This 32‑month fixed‑term position involves leading independent research projects and contributing to the centre’s international reputation.

Key responsibilities

• Design, execute, and manage research projects using both quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
• Conduct systematic literature reviews, prepare IRB/ethics applications, and ensure compliance with data protection standards.
• Identify funding opportunities, draft competitive grant proposals, and develop long‑term funding strategies.
• Publish findings in top‑tier peer‑reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences.
• Mentor junior researchers, research assistants, and students while overseeing day‑to‑day project operations.

Required profile

• PhD in Sports Science, Physical Education, Health Sciences or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated proficiency in mixed‑methods research and a strong record of peer‑reviewed publications.
• Experience writing successful grant proposals and conducting independent literature reviews.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Commitment to a long‑term academic research career and continuous professional development.
