Research Fellow – Visual Algorithms for Mobile Robots

About the role

NTU’s College of Computing and Data Science is seeking a Research Fellow to advance visual perception algorithms for mobile robots. The role involves developing and testing embedded visual systems that enable robots to navigate and operate autonomously in real‑world environments.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and curate datasets for laboratory testing of visual algorithms on mobile robots.
• Implement, optimise and accelerate visual algorithms on embedded hardware platforms.
• Design and build a visual embedded platform integrated with a mobile robot.
• Conduct field trials to evaluate the robotic system’s performance in real‑world scenarios.
• Document progress, report results and collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams.

Required profile

• PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum of four years of experience in visual perception, robot localisation or related research.
• Strong analytical mindset, independence and ability to work collaboratively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven track record of publishing innovative research and leading experimental projects.
