Research Scientist – AI for Low Altitude Economy

About the role

The Alibaba‑NTU Global e‑Sustainability CorpLab (ANGEL) is seeking a Research Scientist to advance green digital technologies for the Low Altitude Economy (LAE). The role focuses on reducing energy consumption of multiple UAVs through optimisation and advanced AI solutions, supporting Singapore’s Green Plan 2030 and Smart Nation initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Survey and analyse scientific literature on LAE and UAV energy consumption models.
• Define problem statements aimed at lowering energy use while meeting safety and reliability requirements.
• Formulate optimisation problems and design AI algorithms for optimal flight routing, battery management, and air‑traffic coordination.
• Implement, test, and fine‑tune algorithms through simulations and real‑world evaluations.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Strong research background with a proven record of publications.
• Experience working collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated expertise in data analytics and machine‑learning research.
