Research Track Faculty – Urban Analytics/Innovation

About the role

The Urban Institute at Singapore Management University seeks up to three full‑time Research Track faculty members at the Associate or Full Professor level. Appointments are fixed‑term for three years, focusing on high‑impact research in urban analytics, innovation, or urban studies.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute interdisciplinary research projects on Asian cities.
• Develop and submit grant proposals aligned with UI’s research pillars.
• Teach one undergraduate or postgraduate course per year on urban‑related topics.
• Contribute to SMU’s strategic priorities: Growth in Asia, Digital Transformation, and Sustainable Living.
• Engage with the broader UI community and collaborate across schools such as Computing, Economics, Law, Business, and Humanities.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in a computational or related discipline (e.g., Data Science, Computer Science, GIS, Informatics).
• Demonstrated record of high‑quality, interdisciplinary research on urban issues, preferably in Asia.
• Experience in securing research funding and publishing in top‑tier venues.
• Ability to develop and deliver a university‑level course.
