Researcher – Social Cohesion Programme

About the role

The S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) at Nanyang Technological University seeks a researcher to support its Social Cohesion Research Programme. The role involves analysing how social and built environments influence multiculturalism, inclusion, religious digitisation, and online trends across the Asia‑Pacific region.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive literature reviews on social cohesion, religiosity, ethnicity and nationalism.
• Perform multivariate statistical analyses on cross‑national datasets to identify cohesion patterns.
• Support the planning and execution of strategic events, meetings and workshops.
• Maintain and update research databases, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
• Prepare concise reports, visualisations and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• PhD, Master’s or equivalent degree in social sciences, data analytics or a related field.
• Strong understanding of cultural dynamics in Singapore and the broader region.
• Proficiency in report writing and statistical analysis.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Excel for statistical tabulations and chart creation.
