Resident Engineer – Building Projects

About the role

The Resident Engineer will lead the supervision of building works for HDB residential projects, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and regulatory requirements. This role involves close coordination with consultants, contractors, and government stakeholders to deliver high‑quality construction on schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise building works for HDB residential projects in line with approved drawings, HDB specifications, the Building Control Act and related regulations.
• Manage Resident Technical Officers (RTOs) overseeing architectural, structural, M&E coordination, and landscape works.
• Ensure construction complies with HDB quality standards, safety requirements, approved procedures and project timelines.
• Maintain site records, monitor progress, and attend coordination and technical meetings with consultants, contractors and HDB representatives.
• Review and validate method statements, shop drawings, inspection records, overtime requisitions and temporary works.
• Conduct inspections of materials, workmanship and site tests to verify compliance with specifications.
• Monitor contractor site management, workmanship quality and trade coordination.
• Identify defects, non‑conformances and construction issues, and ensure timely rectification.
• Support TOP inspection, defect management and handover processes for residential building projects.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Registered with IES‑ACES Joint Accreditation Committee (JAC) as Resident Engineer.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with contractors, consultants and government stakeholders.
