RF Engineer

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions for semiconductors and advanced displays, is hiring an RF Engineer in Singapore. The role involves designing, modifying and troubleshooting RF assemblies, layouts, schematics and drawings, performing engineering analysis, generating test reports and coordinating component procurement and assembly.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and troubleshoot a wide range of RF problems with limited supervision, and interface with internal and external customers on medium-to-complex RF issues.
• Implement concepts for medium-to-complex product issues and generate product specifications with limited supervision.
• Perform engineering analysis, define and run experiments within safety guidelines, and generate engineering test reports.
• Collaborate on difficult design issues and on future products and technologies.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics and Communications Engineering, or an MS in RF or Microwave Engineering, or a PhD in RF Plasma.
• 3-5 years of experience in RF/Microwave design, testing and validation.
• Knowledge of the semiconductor industry, plasma and capital equipment is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and solve medium-to-complex problems with a broad perspective.

Required skills

• RF design and testing: high-power RF generation and matching, Smith chart impedance matching, matching network topologies (L, inverse L, T, Pi).
• Electromagnetic simulation tools such as HFSS, ADS, PSpice/LTspice, COMSOL Multiphysics, MATLAB/Simulink, VHDL, LabVIEW.
• Hands-on use of network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, RF power meters, oscilloscopes, phase and magnitude detectors, VI sensors and directional couplers.
• Development of custom test benches for RF components and RF generators.
