Risk Manager – Private Banking

About the role

The role is responsible for overseeing risk governance, control and monitoring for the Private Bank business at HL Bank Singapore. It ensures compliance with the bank’s risk standards, supports the development of risk frameworks and provides day‑to‑day advisory guidance on risk limits and client activities.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain the overall risk structure, policies and adherence to the firm’s risk standards.
• Assess enterprise‑wide risk management requirements for the Private Bank and coordinate risk methodologies and plans.
• Monitor risk‑appetite thresholds, track exposure and ensure compliance with group risk tolerances.
• Conduct daily transaction and suitability oversight, reviewing exception reports and relationship‑manager communications.
• Manage operational incidents, perform root‑cause analysis and implement control enhancements.
• Identify emerging operational and conduct risks, performing deep‑dive assessments on high‑risk processes.
• Review new products and services for legal, operational and suitability risks before launch.
• Act as the primary second‑line of defence contact, providing practical guidance on risk limits and non‑standard client activities.
• Prepare consolidated risk dashboards and reports for senior management and risk committees.
• Support internal and external audits and regulatory inspections with required documentation.
