Scientific Officer - Molecular Laboratory

About the role

Eurofins Scientific is an international life sciences company providing analytical testing services, including food, environment, pharmaceutical and cosmetics testing, and is a leader in genomics, discovery pharmacology, forensics, CDMO and clinical diagnostic testing. This full-time Scientific Officer position supports the planning and implementation of a Molecular Lab, including key special projects such as COVID-19 PCR testing and pipeline PCR tests.

Key responsibilities

• Develop SOPs and workflow protocols for molecular testing
• Ensure regulatory compliance on biosafety and quality, and oversee laboratory policies and procedures
• Support procurement of lab equipment and consumables, and recruitment, selection and training of molecular testing staff
• Jointly lead the MOH audit with the laboratory management team to obtain COVID-19 and molecular testing licenses
• Manage inventory levels, place and expedite orders, and verify receipt of supplies and reagents
• Manage periodic internal, external, regulatory and accreditation audits (MOH, CAP, etc.)
• Provide technical advice on clinical laboratory methods, sciences and applications
• Ensure optimal performance, efficiency and quality of a high-throughput Molecular Lab

Required profile

• Master of Science in Medical Technology or a related science
• Minimum 10 years of experience in a molecular laboratory and 5 years in a supervisory role
• Knowledge of state and local standards, regulations and guidelines affecting clinical reference laboratories
• Analytical thinking and good communication skills

Required skills

• Considerable knowledge of methods, materials, equipment and techniques used in molecular diagnostics
• Ability to organize, communicate, teach and work effectively with others
