Scientific Product Manager, Singapore
cuspai · Singapore
Job description
About the role
CuspAI is an AI company focused on accelerating materials discovery, and due to rapid growth in its partner lab network it is seeking a Scientific Product Manager for its Product team. You will take ownership of a set of partner labs and the lab integration work around them, working with materials scientists, ML researchers and platform engineers to make AI-driven experimentation work in real laboratories. The role is based in Singapore, with the expectation of being in the office three days per week and possible regular travel to partner labs.
Key responsibilities
- Shape and prioritise the roadmap for getting experimental data, protocols and campaigns into the CuspAI platform, and write requirements, specifications and acceptance criteria for experiment types, instrument integrations and LIMS/ELN connections.
- Lead technical discovery with partner labs: map their workflows, instruments, sample logic and data systems, and define the true experimental unit and key parameters.
- Own onboarding from scoping to the first closed-loop campaign, turning each onboarding into reusable patterns and documentation.
- Act as the main scientific counterpart for your partner labs, representing the product in partner meetings, workshops and conferences.
- Work with ML researchers to design optimisation campaigns (e.g. Bayesian optimisation) that respect real experimental constraints, and define how platform-driven campaigns are validated.
Required profile
- PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering or a related experimental discipline, or equivalent experience in scientific research.
- Hands-on experience with high-throughput or automated experimentation (robotic synthesis, combinatorial libraries, automated characterisation, self-driving or closed-loop labs).
- Proven track record of translating scientific needs into requirements for engineers, software teams or automation vendors, and validating that what was built works in the lab.
- Firsthand understanding of how experimental data is produced, its metadata and provenance, and data quality issues.
- Depth in at least one materials domain (semiconductors, catalysis, energy materials, polymers, separations and surfaces) and curiosity to work across others.
- Strong communicator and collaborator, comfortable working with external partner labs and multidisciplinary teams.
Required skills
- Working knowledge of Python for data handling and analysis; comfortable with APIs and data schemas.
- Bonus: experience with closed-loop optimisation, LIMS/ELN systems, FAIR data or metadata schemas, instrument integration and product/project management.
What we offer
- A competitive salary and equity in CuspAI.
- 28 days holiday (Germany, Netherlands, UK) or 21 days (Japan, Singapore, US), plus local public holidays.
- Parental leave of 26 weeks (primary caregiver) and 12 weeks (secondary caregiver) at full pay.
- Professional development budget.
