Senior Analyst - Senior Principal Analyst (Data Science & Statistics)

About the role

The Energy Market Authority (EMA) is strengthening its data analytics, modelling and digital capabilities to support Singapore's energy landscape. Its Data & AI Department is expanding to meet growing analytical and modelling needs, and this Senior Analyst / Senior Principal Analyst role uses statistics and data science to turn complex datasets into insights that support evidence-based policy and regulatory decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Apply advanced analytics, statistical techniques and data science methods to high-frequency, locational, sectoral and system datasets, supporting policy formulation, regulatory reviews, operational planning and strategic decisions.
• Run exploratory, diagnostic and predictive analyses to identify trends, evaluate policy and market interventions and assess emerging issues, producing insights on energy demand, supply, markets, consumer behaviour and the energy transition.
• Develop and improve statistical, econometric, machine learning and forecasting models to project demand, supply, costs and emissions under different scenarios.
• Build visualisation and analytical tools and strengthen the production, publication and sharing of high-frequency, granular energy statistics for public information, government-wide decisions and international reporting.

Required profile

• 5 to 8 years of experience in data analytics, forecasting or AI/ML projects.
• Degree in Statistics, Data Science, Economics or a related discipline with substantial quantitative content.
• Knowledge of the energy sector is an advantage.
• Excellent analytical, coordination and written and verbal communication skills.
• Independent problem-solving mindset and a strong interest in shaping Singapore's energy landscape.

Required skills

• Experience with SAS, SQL, Python, R and/or other major programming languages for data science and applications.
• Statistical analysis, econometrics, machine learning and forecasting.
