Senior Assistant Manager, Risk Management and Governance

About the role

The National University Health System (NUHS) is looking for a Senior Assistant Manager to join the Reliability Matters team at Alexandra Hospital. The role supports and strengthens risk management, governance and data protection initiatives, helping shape the institution's risk culture and its commitment to sustainable, reliable healthcare.

Key responsibilities

• Internal controls and compliance: support and execute strategies for a positive internal control culture, use risk and control self-assessments and internal control testing to understand operations, identify control gaps and recommend improvements aligned with industry best practice, collaborate with departments to build data analytics capabilities for controls, follow up on observations, monitor control implementation plans and report regularly to Senior Management, and take part in special reviews and projects.
• Data governance and protection: assist the Data Protection Officer in complying with the PDPA and other privacy regulations, conduct data protection impact assessments, carry out regular walkabouts to spot gaps and recommend mitigations, coordinate data protection control self-assessments and validation checks, support data breach incident management (investigation, reporting, mitigation), give guidance and run briefings on data protection best practice, and keep policies updated as privacy regulations evolve.

Required profile

• At least 6 years of proven experience in internal controls, compliance or audit, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting.
• Degree from an established university in Accountancy, ACCA or equivalent; CIA or CA certification preferred.
• Ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, presentation, negotiation and interpersonal skills, with strong analytical ability and independence.
• Knowledge of internal auditing techniques and standards preferred; experience in data protection is an added advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency in data analytics tools such as Tableau, Power BI and Power Automate is an advantage.
• Experience in data protection work is an added advantage.
