Senior Backend Java Developer – API & Software Engineering

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Backend Java Developer to design, build, and maintain high‑throughput, secure RESTful APIs and enterprise backend components. You will work with Java 11+ and the Spring ecosystem to deliver scalable, maintainable services that power critical business processes.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services using Java (11/17) and Spring Boot.
• Implement clean architectural patterns, SOLID principles and reusable modules.
• Write OpenAPI/Swagger specifications for all endpoints.
• Utilise Java concurrency utilities, multithreading and asynchronous patterns for optimal performance.
• Diagnose and resolve memory leaks, thread contention and GC bottlenecks with profiling tools.
• Design and optimise relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle) and NoSQL schemas, manage persistence with Spring Data JPA/Hibernate.
• Write tuned SQL, configure indexing, connection pooling and caching (Redis).
• Implement API security (OAuth2, JWT) and data sanitisation.
• Set up structured logging, health checks and metrics (Logback, SLF4J).
• Write unit tests with JUnit and Mockito, participate in code and architecture reviews.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional Java development experience (Java 11/17).
• Strong expertise in Spring Boot, Spring Core, Spring MVC and dependency injection.
• Deep understanding of RESTful design, HTTP status codes and JSON processing.
• Advanced knowledge of Spring Data JPA/Hibernate, multi‑datasource routing and database migration tools (Flyway/Liquibase).
• Practical experience with message brokers such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Solid grasp of design patterns, TDD principles and build tools (Maven/Gradle).
