Senior Developer, AI Applications (Digital Shopfront)

About the role

The team is reimagining its digital services by turning OneMotoring into an intelligent Digital Shopfront powered by AI, which augments how digital services are designed, delivered and experienced. As Senior Developer, AI Applications, you will design and build the AI features that make the platform intelligent and the backend integrations that connect data insights from many backend systems.

Key responsibilities

• Build secure integrations: design and implement API connections to data vaults and legacy systems, using authentication, caching and error-handling patterns.
• Embed AI in applications: design AI-assisted components that turn plain-language descriptions into digital touchpoints, workflows and configurable services.
• Engineer the retrieval layer: design how the platform retrieves and grounds information for AI features, including embeddings, semantic search and retrieval pipelines, so responses are accurate and explainable.
• Review vendor AI approaches: review pull requests, AI pipelines and guardrails, and enforce accuracy, security and maintainability.
• Make AI reliable in production: build monitoring, evaluation and guardrails, detect model underperformance, validate outputs and design graceful fallbacks.
• Work across the platform with technical teammates and own features end to end, tracking performance after launch and refining the AI pipeline with usage data.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience as a backend or full-stack engineer, including at least 2 years building applied AI features used by real users.
• Experience navigating a full-stack environment in Python alongside a modern frontend framework, and working with middleware and API gateways to wrap legacy systems.
• Solid application security foundations, including compliance, OWASP and zero-trust secure application design.
• Ability to turn rough product ideas into technical designs and keep improving them.
• Prior experience in the Singapore public sector or highly regulated environments, and familiarity with enterprise platform delivery at scale, is an advantage.

Required skills

• LLM APIs, including prompt design, semantic search, function calling and structured output parsing.
• Understanding of retrieval-augmented generation concepts and when retrieval is the right solution.
• Treating AI safety and reliability as core engineering work: hallucination handling, output validation, evaluation and graceful degradation.
