Senior DevOps Engineer – Global Ad Tech (GATD)

About the role

We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to own DevOps delivery for the Global Ad Technology Department (GATD) service teams at Rakuten, a leading global e‑commerce company. The role involves building, deploying, monitoring and operating high‑traffic platforms across multiple regions.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary DevOps point of contact for GATD service teams, collaborating with development, product, QA and security across Singapore, Japan, India, China and other locations.
• Design, implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and observability platforms to ensure reliable delivery and proactive issue detection.
• Automate production and non‑production operations using tools such as Jenkins, Ansible, Chef, Terraform, Shell scripting and manage containerised workloads with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Provision and manage public‑cloud infrastructure (primarily GCP) via Infrastructure as Code, handling lifecycle activities, migrations and upgrades.
• Integrate security practices into pipelines and infrastructure, including vulnerability scanning and secret management, and own critical incident response from detection to root‑cause analysis.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on DevOps experience with high‑traffic production systems.
• Strong UNIX/Linux administration skills, networking fundamentals and proficiency in scripting (Shell, Python).
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities across multi‑regional teams; fluency in English required.

• CI/CD tools: Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions (artifact management: Nexus, Artifactory).
• Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Ansible, Chef.
• Containerisation and orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes.
• Public cloud platforms: Google Cloud Platform (GCP) – VPC networking, migrations.
• Monitoring & observability: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, OpenTelemetry.
• Security fundamentals: vulnerability scanning, secret management, secure configuration.
