Senior Engineer, Chemical & Gas Construction Engineering

About the role

Micron is hiring a Senior Engineer for its Global Facilities Central Engineering, Construction team, covering chemical and gas construction engineering for semiconductor facility projects across the U.S. and Asia. The role supports the full project lifecycle, from design through commissioning and handover, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to required quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead chemical and gas construction engineering across the project lifecycle (design, construction, commissioning and handover).
• Drive delivery of large-scale fab projects in line with scope, schedule, cost and quality requirements.
• Review and validate chemical and specialty gas system designs against standards, codes and safety requirements.
• Provide technical engineering support to resolve construction, installation and design issues, and monitor construction progress.
• Support project cost estimates, schedules and business justifications, and coordinate consultants and contractors.
• Work with facilities, procurement, manufacturing, operations and IT teams, and communicate updates, risks and decisions to stakeholders.
• Identify and mitigate technical and safety risks, support root cause analysis and continuous improvement, and contribute to Best Known Methods (BKMs).
• Support safety and sustainability programs for chemical handling and gas systems, and capacity planning and infrastructure optimization.
• Use AI-assisted tools to improve engineering analysis, system monitoring and project execution, and share AI-enabled best practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction or a related discipline.
• At least 8 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years supporting construction projects as a Chemical or Gas Engineer.
• Experience in EPCM project environments and in designing chemical and specialty gas systems (bulk distribution, hazardous gas systems, delivery and safety systems).
• Experience in construction engineering, project execution and project controls (cost, schedule, risk management).
• Ability to work in global, multicultural teams and to travel as required.
• Preferred: semiconductor or advanced manufacturing facility projects, large-scale or greenfield construction, professional engineering certification, knowledge of chemical safety and hazardous materials regulations.
