Senior / Executive / Engineer, System Development (ePIC)

About the role

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is hiring a Software System Engineer for its ePayment Innovation Centre (ePIC) team. You will develop applications for LTA's Automated Fare Collection (AFC) systems, designing, developing, testing, deploying and supporting secure and reliable applications, including those hosted on the Government on Commercial Cloud (GCC) environment.

Key responsibilities

• Gather and analyse requirements, design, develop, test and maintain software applications.
• Prepare and maintain software lifecycle artefacts such as architecture and design documents, interface specifications, source code, test specifications, operations and maintenance manuals and other technical documentation.
• Troubleshoot application and environment issues, investigate and resolve defects, and improve application quality, reliability and performance.
• Take part in application build, deployment and production support activities.
• Collaborate with developers, users, testers and other stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve design, integration and testing issues.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development, testing and deployment practices.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline with software development experience.
• Experience in at least one full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including technical documentation.
• Hands-on experience developing enterprise applications with Java and Spring/Spring Boot.
• Ability to analyse technical problems systematically and to communicate technical information clearly in written and spoken English.

Required skills

• SQL, relational databases and JDBC or JPA/Hibernate.
• GitLab, CI/CD and automated build/deployment.
• Familiarity with cloud computing, Docker, Kubernetes and microservices.
• Message queues or asynchronous messaging technologies.
• Advantageous: AWS services (ECS/Fargate, RDS, Lambda), cloud security practices, AFC or PCI DSS experience.
