Senior Manager, Payment Technology (Motoring Digital Transformation)

About the role

This Senior Manager, Payment Technology role sits within a team redesigning the motoring experience, with a focus on real-time billing, personalised dashboards and intuitive user flows. The manager builds the payment backbone that moves money reliably for every journey, shaping how payments are captured, authorised, cleared and settled.

Key responsibilities

• Define the technical direction for payments and bring fragmented flows onto a unified, dependable foundation.
• Design system interfaces and flows, weighing the trade-offs of each integration to create robust, scalable designs.
• Work with payment agents and processors to integrate payment rails, negotiate rates and ensure wide acceptance of digital payment methods.
• Design settlement and reconciliation flows across providers, acquirers and banks so every transaction is accounted for.
• Audit payment-grade controls into every design, following standards such as PCI DSS, MAS TRM, IM8 and OWASP ASVS.
• Act as a link between vendors, engineers and leadership to align payment technology work with user delight.

Required profile

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in digital payments, having built or operated payment systems.
• Strong understanding of authorisation, clearing, settlement and in-house finance reconciliation.
• In-depth knowledge of schemes, providers and interchanges, including how acquirers, processors and banks work together.
• Ability to make sound technical decisions with limited data in complex, large-scale integrations.
• Exceptional stakeholder management, bridging technical jargon and business goals.
• Prior experience in government or highly regulated environments is a significant advantage.

Required skills

• System architecture and solutioning, including drawing system sequence diagrams and writing interface control documents.
• Payment system design covering authorisation, clearing and settlement.
