Senior Medical Laboratory Technologist - Biochemistry Lab

About the role

Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) is hiring a Senior Medical Laboratory Technologist for its Biochemistry Section of the Department of Laboratory Medicine. You will run a wide range of diagnostic tests on patient specimens and report results according to established protocols, helping clinicians diagnose, treat diseases and monitor therapy.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and sort specimens, assess their suitability for testing, enter test requests into the system and reject unsuitable ones.
• Perform laboratory testing in line with the work instructions and policies and procedures.
• Check that results are accurate, investigate delta flags and unusual results, and certify them in a timely manner.
• Ensure critical results are reported promptly to the relevant healthcare personnel.
• Run quality control on reagents, standards, controls and other testing materials and follow up on corrective actions.
• Calibrate and maintain instruments, troubleshoot malfunctions and unacceptable quality control results, and initiate corrective action.
• Comply with licensing, regulatory and accrediting agency requirements and take part in internal and external quality assurance programmes such as CAP and RCPA.
• Take part in department and institution training and development programmes, support the Section Leader in operational and administrative matters, and work 3-rotating shifts including after-hours, weekend and public holiday coverage.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or above in Laboratory Medicine, Clinical Chemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Technology, Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, Life Sciences or an equivalent qualification.
• Able to work rotating shifts, including staggered and extended hours and coverage after hours, on weekends and public holidays.
