Senior Prosthetist – Hand & Reconstructive Microsurgery

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Prosthetist to lead functional upper‑limb prosthetic services within a hand and reconstructive microsurgery department. The role combines clinical counselling, prosthetic fabrication, and research to deliver comprehensive solutions for patients with hand amputations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide pre‑ and post‑prosthetic counselling and evaluate patient conditions to recommend appropriate prostheses.
• Fabricate, fit, and maintain high‑quality body‑powered and externally powered prostheses for a range of upper‑limb amputations.
• Run a self‑contained prosthetic laboratory, manage inventory, and ensure smooth service delivery.
• Lead departmental operations, policy development, staff mentorship, and performance management.
• Participate in or lead academic and research studies, and contribute to continuous service improvement.
• Teach and mentor medical students as required.

Required profile

• Minimum a Bachelor’s degree in Science with a postgraduate certificate in Prosthetics; Master’s degree preferred.
• Experience in functional prosthetic fitting for upper‑limb amputations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage laboratory operations and lead a multidisciplinary team.
