Senior Research Fellow – Neuroscience (Parkinson’s Disease)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Research Fellow to lead a new NMRC‑funded project on mitochondrial metabolism and lipid homeostasis in α‑synuclein‑associated Parkinson’s disease at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, NTU Singapore. The role involves cutting‑edge work with iPSC‑derived dopaminergic neurons, 3D organoid models and mouse disease models.

Key responsibilities

• Examine mitochondrial metabolism and lipid dynamics in human dopaminergic neurons using 3D ventral midbrain organoids.
• Elucidate mechanisms of α‑synuclein‑mediated disruption of mitochondrial and lipid homeostasis.
• Test whether modulation of key mitochondrial or lipid targets rescues Parkinson’s disease phenotypes in α‑synuclein pre‑formed fibril mouse models.
• Supervise and mentor research assistants, associates and graduate students involved in the project.

Required profile

• PhD in Biological Sciences or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of post‑doctoral research experience in neuroscience or neurobiology.
• Strong interest and deep knowledge of neurodegenerative disease research.
• Proven experience in mentoring junior researchers.
