Senior Scientist – AI, Computer Vision & Multimodal Systems

About the role

The Institute of High Performance Computing (IHPC) at A*STAR is looking for a senior research scientist to lead pioneering work in artificial intelligence, computer vision, vision‑language models, multimodal AI, and agentic systems. The role focuses on translating cutting‑edge AI advances into tangible solutions for healthcare, biomedical research, and scientific discovery.

Key responsibilities

• Lead high‑impact research in AI, machine learning, and computer vision.
• Design and develop novel algorithms for multimodal learning, foundation models, generative AI, large language models, and agentic AI systems.
• Build scalable AI platforms that integrate imaging, sensor, text, and clinical data.
• Translate research outcomes into reusable AI tools and intelligent agents for biomedical and scientific applications.
• Collaborate with clinicians, academic partners, government agencies, and industry.
• Publish in top conferences and journals, contribute to grant proposals, and mentor junior researchers.

Required profile

• PhD in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, Data Science, Electrical/Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven track record in AI/ML research demonstrated by publications, patents, or impactful projects.
• Strong programming expertise in Python and modern deep‑learning frameworks.
• Experience developing and evaluating machine‑learning and deep‑learning models.
