Senior Site Reliability (DevOps) Engineer - INPD

About the role

Rakuten Asia Pte. Ltd., based in Singapore's Central Business District, is the regional headquarters for Asia and runs the Incentive Platform Department (INPD), which builds the Loyalty Platform (Rakuten Point and Coupon Platform). The role is a senior Site Reliability Engineer who works with developers to make web services faster and more resilient, using automation and data-driven monitoring. The position is open to candidates who can troubleshoot issues at both infrastructure and application levels, run sustainable incident response and blameless postmortems, and drive improvements to technology and processes.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build infrastructure and automation to deliver web services quickly, focusing on the Rakuten Coupon Platform and related loyalty services.
• Troubleshoot system and network failures and application crashes on high-traffic coupon and loyalty platforms.
• Create CI/CD pipelines with tools such as Jenkins for continuous deployment of coupon platform features.
• Take part in service capacity planning, demand forecasting, performance analysis and system tuning to spot issues early.
• Optimize operations and reduce risk through automation and process improvement.
• Act as a technical expert introducing and driving adoption of new technologies within the team.

Required profile

• 5+ years deploying and managing large-scale, internet-facing web services, including high-traffic, real-time transaction systems such as loyalty or coupon platforms.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated experience measuring availability, latency and system health for production systems.
• Experience with DevOps processes, culture and tools, and with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and Rundeck.
• Ability to work in globally distributed Agile teams, with strong ownership, customer service and integrity.
