Senior Software Engineer, Infrastructure (Citizen Dev)

About the role

Airwallex, the AI-native financial operating system for global commerce, is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for its Citizen Developers Infrastructure team in Singapore. The team builds the internal platform that lets non-product engineering groups create and run workflows and automations safely, shaping the platform services, developer experience and guardrails. The role is based in the Singapore office five days a week.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and evolve the citizen-developer platform and tools for creating and running automations and applications.
• Establish secure software development lifecycle practices and guardrails so security, compliance and engineering best practices are built in by default.
• Build self-serve development and operations tooling that reduces dependence on central platform engineers.
• Maintain Temporal-based workflow infrastructure, addressing multi-tenancy, high availability, reliability and cost.
• Strengthen the Kubernetes and GitOps foundation, including ArgoCD, Helm and Terraform, so deployments are safe, repeatable and auditable.
• Partner with application teams and citizen developers on tooling, patterns, APIs, contracts and development processes.
• Lead incident response for workflow services and drive long-term fixes through code reviews, technical design discussions and on-call support.
• Document standards, best practices and reference architectures for teams using the platform.

Required profile

• 6+ years of experience in software or platform engineering, building and operating backend or platform services in production.
• Experience designing and building internal platforms or developer tooling used by multiple teams, with a strong focus on developer experience.
• Experience in highly collaborative, multi-team environments, turning platform constraints into clear APIs, contracts and paved paths for application teams.
• Proactive problem-solving, able to navigate ambiguity and drive complex technical problems to closure.
• Preferred: experience building platforms for non-product engineering users (operations, finance, analysts) or with low-code/no-code environments; proven experience with Temporal or similar workflow systems; experience with large-scale stateful workloads like Redis, Cassandra or HBase.

Required skills

• Strong hands-on experience with a strongly typed backend language such as Go or Java, and familiarity with Python or Bash for tooling and automation.
• Kubernetes and GitOps practices, ideally with ArgoCD and Terraform.
