Senior Software Engineer – Java Backend (p3/p4)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with strong Java backend development experience. The role is based in Singapore and starts as a six‑month contract with strong potential to extend.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java (11/17+), Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
• Build secure, high‑performance REST APIs and integrate with internal and external systems.
• Implement event‑driven solutions using Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar messaging platforms.
• Develop data solutions with SQL and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB, and Redis.
• Collaborate with architects and cross‑functional teams to deliver resilient, cloud‑native applications.
• Apply automated testing, code quality, and CI/CD practices using JUnit, Mockito, Jenkins, GitHub Actions or GitLab CI.
• Deploy and manage applications on Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker, and public clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Own production releases, deployment planning, validation, rollback strategies, and change management.
• Participate in on‑call rotations and provide 24x7 support for critical production systems.
• Lead troubleshooting of Sev1/Sev2 incidents, perform root‑cause analysis and drive preventive measures.
• Monitor application health with observability tools such as Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, Dynatrace, ELK, or AppDynamics.
• Mentor junior developers, conduct code reviews and promote engineering best practices.

Required skills

• 8+ years of Java backend development experience.
• Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Spring Data JPA, Hibernate, and microservices.
• Experience with Kafka or RabbitMQ, REST APIs, Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift.
• Proficiency with SQL/NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Redis).
• Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) and testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito).
• Familiarity with observability tools (Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, Dynatrace, ELK, AppDynamics).
