Senior Software Engineer, Mobile (Android)

About the role

Join Grab’s Geo Engineering team as a Senior Android Engineer, building location‑based mobile experiences used by millions across Southeast Asia. You’ll work on maps, routing and navigation features, collaborating with backend, data and design teams to deliver fast, reliable and engaging functionality. The role is based on‑site in Singapore and reports to an Engineering Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise Android features and shared mobile components.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to gather requirements and deliver end‑to‑end solutions.
• Implement complex UI, intuitive UX, reusable libraries and integrate with multiple apps and services.
• Maintain code quality, testing, security and clear documentation.
• Monitor app health and performance, analyse metrics and drive reliability improvements.
• Explore and propose new designs and architectures to improve scalability and developer velocity.
• Brainstorm ideas, identify problems and deliver pragmatic solutions focused on user impact.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience building Android applications.
• Strong ownership, analytical and system design skills.
• Proven ability to collaborate with engineers, designers and product managers.

Required skills

• Kotlin and/or Java.
• Android SDK, Gradle, CI/CD pipelines.
• Design patterns, multithreading, clean code practices.
• Data structures and algorithms.
• API integration, networking, authentication, versioning.
• Complex UI development, accessibility and polish.
• Automated testing and release pipelines.
