Senior Vice President / Executive Director, Credit Risk Manager (FI Risk Management)

About the role

The Risk Management Group manages the bank's risk exposure by balancing the objective of maximising returns against an acceptable risk profile, working closely with business partners and origination teams. This role covers the credit risk management of a portfolio of clients within the IBG Financial Institutions Group (FIG), located in DBS Asia Central.

Key responsibilities

• Review, respond to, support and approve credit requests submitted by FIG.
• Support and approve counterparty risk ratings and ensure consistency across the RMG-FIRM portfolio, which includes sovereigns, banks, non-bank financial institutions such as insurance, leasing and finance companies, broker-dealers, exchanges, funds and asset managers, and digital asset market makers.
• Work with FIG to assess, structure and manage the risk of complex transactions.
• Take part in credit product and program review and approval.
• Monitor portfolio risk profiles, concentrations and economic, industry, competitive and regulatory developments, report trends and issues to senior management and recommend actions.
• Evaluate portfolio performance under stress conditions and ensure the integrity of credit information used by senior management, the Board and regulators.
• Participate in or manage credit risk projects to build risk infrastructure and ensure compliance with credit policies.
• Identify, assess, quantify, mitigate and monitor counterparty and transaction risk, and deliver timely, high-quality credit decisions.

Required profile

• At least 10-15 years of banking experience, of which at least 8-10 years in financial institution credit risk approval.
• Demonstrated track record managing financial institution credit risk.
• Tertiary education from a recognised university.
• Strong credit risk management knowledge, ability to handle complex linkages in analysis, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work with FIG RMs and CRMs, RMG Credit Risk units (e.g. Credit Control, Risk Policy) and other stakeholders such as GFM and Legal.
