Senior/Executive Engineer, System Architecture & Assurance (Cloud)

About the role

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is seeking an experienced Solution Architect to help modernise Singapore's Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system, delivering a seamless, secure and scalable public transport experience. As part of the System Architecture and Assurance Division, you will drive end-to-end solution design, architecture governance and technical assessments across integrations involving payment systems, backend processing, cloud services and system security.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse business and system requirements and turn them into high-level and detailed technical specifications and interface designs.
• Perform technical impact analysis for change requests and system enhancements, keeping disruption to mission-critical AFC operations to a minimum.
• Design secure, scalable, high-availability solutions for AFC and payment systems, including EMV, open-loop standards, account-based and card-based ticketing.
• Lead cloud solutioning and migration strategies aligned with LTA's cloud adoption roadmap.
• Work with project teams, software developers, operations, vendors and financial institutions to build robust, future-ready solutions.
• Maintain architecture diagrams, API and interface specifications, integration patterns and designs for multi-vendor environments.
• Contribute to architecture governance, cloud best practices, security controls and resiliency planning.
• Run solution walkthroughs, architecture reviews and technical presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in solution architecture, systems analysis/design or complex application development.
• Proven experience designing or supporting cloud-based systems.
• Familiarity with e-payment technologies, fare collection, transaction clearing and EMV-based systems.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, and experience managing stakeholders in complex, multi-vendor environments.

Required skills

• Bonus: cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate/Professional).
• Bonus: security architecture, secure data flows, tokenisation, encryption and compliance standards.
• Bonus: DevSecOps, CI/CD, containerisation (e.g. ECS), serverless architecture or data streaming pipelines.
• Bonus: awareness of emerging technologies such as 5G, AI/ML, IoT and real-time analytics.
