About the role

CompanyA1 is creating a proactive AI smart assistant that helps users manage conversations, errands, and workflows. As a Desktop Software Engineer you will own the behavior of this system on macOS and Windows, focusing on reliability, performance, and real‑time operation in production desktop applications.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain cross‑platform desktop applications using Electron.
• Design responsive, scalable UIs for real‑time collaboration with React or similar frameworks.
• Implement desktop‑specific features such as file‑system access, native notifications, auto‑updates, and deep linking.
• Integrate AI‑powered chat and assistance features via backend APIs.
• Optimize startup time, memory usage, and overall runtime performance; profile and reduce Electron overhead.
• Manage large local state and message history efficiently using SQLite, IndexedDB, or the filesystem.
• Ensure smooth real‑time updates (messages, typing indicators, presence) through WebSockets or other transport mechanisms.
• Maintain stability and consistent behavior across macOS and Windows environments.

Required profile

• Proven software engineering experience with production‑grade applications.
• Hands‑on experience building Electron applications.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Experience with React or comparable UI frameworks.
• Solid understanding of the desktop application lifecycle and IPC communication.
• Familiarity with local storage solutions (SQLite, IndexedDB, filesystem).
• Experience with real‑time transport mechanisms such as WebSockets.
• Strong debugging and performance‑profiling skills.
