Software Engineer, Digital Identity, Google Wallet

About the role

Google is looking for a Software Engineer to join the Digital Identity team within Google Wallet. The role focuses on building a digital version of real‑world identity credentials that can be used both online and offline, leveraging ISO and OpenID standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review and provide feedback on code to ensure best practices, style, testability and efficiency.
• Develop features for Google Mobile Services (GMS) Core related to payments, tap‑and‑pay, and mobile document storage.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle from design to release and monitoring.
• Write production‑grade Java or Kotlin code for the Android platform and troubleshoot issues across the stack.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, UX Designers, and other engineering teams across Wallet, Android, and Google.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 1 year of software development experience in Java or Kotlin.
• Experience with data structures, algorithms, and Android application development.
• Preferred: Master’s or PhD in Computer Science or related field, experience with digital credentials standards, and accessibility technologies.
