Software Engineer, Google Wallet, Physical Access

About the role

Google’s Payments team is building the next generation of digital wallet and physical access solutions. As a Software Engineer on the Google Wallet Physical Access project, you will create and enhance credential systems for campus IDs, corporate badges, hotels and other secure entry points, while integrating tightly with device hardware such as NFC controllers and biometric sensors.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement digital access credential services for a variety of use‑cases, including campus IDs, corporate badges and multi‑family homes.
• Develop software that communicates with NFC controllers, Secure Elements and biometric sensors on Android devices.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, UX Designers, Technical Program Managers, Business Development, Legal and other engineering teams to define requirements and launch integrations.
• Work with Android platform teams to create new APIs and capabilities that improve Wallet functionality and security.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 1 year of software development experience in languages such as Java, Kotlin, Go, C++ or Swift.
• Experience with data structures, algorithms and full‑stack development (back‑end and front‑end).
• Preferred experience in Android development and building full‑stack solutions that integrate with server‑side APIs.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross‑functional environment.
