Software Engineer - Java Core

About the role

NCS, an AI tech services company and subsidiary of the Singtel Group, is looking for a detail-oriented, analytical Software Engineer with Java Core expertise to join its engineering team in Singapore. You will design, develop and maintain robust Java applications while working with cross-functional teams to deliver efficient, scalable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, test and maintain high-quality Java applications using core Java technologies and frameworks
• Design and implement efficient algorithms and data structures to solve complex technical problems
• Write clean, well-documented code following coding standards and design patterns
• Conduct code reviews and give constructive feedback on code quality and consistency
• Work with product managers and stakeholders to turn requirements into technical specifications
• Troubleshoot and debug production issues, analysing root causes
• Take part in architectural discussions and system design decisions
• Optimise application performance through profiling and analysis
• Maintain documentation of code, systems and processes
• Stay up to date with Java best practices and emerging technologies

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional experience in Java development with strong core Java expertise
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms and computational complexity
• Experience with version control systems (Git) and collaborative workflows
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication and teamwork skills

Required skills

• Object-oriented programming and design patterns
• Unit testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito) and test-driven development
• SQL and relational database design
• RESTful APIs and HTTP protocols
• Build tools such as Maven or Gradle
• Preferred: Spring Framework and Spring Boot, microservices, CI/CD, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), Docker and Kubernetes, message queues and event-driven architecture
