Software Engineer – Open Source Security

About the role
Google’s Open Source Security Team in Singapore is looking for a Software Engineer to help expand insights into the open‑source supply chain and embed them across Google’s software factory. You will work on critical projects that improve security, compliance and developer tooling for both internal teams and the broader open‑source community.
Key responsibilities
- Develop tools and APIs that generate and surface security insights for open‑source components.
- Integrate security findings into Google’s internal and external developer platforms.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to improve processes for software compliance and vulnerability assessment.
- Contribute to open‑source projects and share solutions with the wider community.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 2 years of software development experience (or 1 year with an advanced degree).
- Experience with open‑source software development and AI‑assisted code review is a plus.
- Familiarity with security, vulnerability assessment, or large‑scale distributed systems.
Required skills
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages: Go, Python, C/C++, Java, Rust.
- Knowledge of open‑source technologies and security software development.
- Understanding of distributed, parallel or networking systems.
