Software Systems Engineering - Technology & Program Management (SEPM)

About the role

This role oversees the design, implementation and maintenance of robust and scalable software systems for commercial business notebooks. It works with software developers, firmware developers, program managers and the commercial notebook System Team to deliver solutions that integrate with existing infrastructure, and guides other team members on system engineering across new product introduction and sustaining phases.

Key responsibilities

• Own software and firmware deliverables (BIOS, EC, drivers, applications, image readiness) from concept to end of service, across NPI and sustaining.
• Define and manage CQ refresh software/firmware deliverables, SCT validation and release schedules, ensuring timely Web Softpaq publication and RTM release to factories.
• Manage ODM SEPM resources, define engagement models and audit deliverables so ODMs meet HP quality and schedule expectations.
• Drive debugging, root cause analysis and resolution of software, driver, OS and application issues, and support firmware/BIOS/EC debugging; manage 3LS escalations.
• Communicate and prioritize scope and schedule changes, negotiate options and coordinate phase-in schedules with stakeholders.
• Support regulatory deliverables and customer-specific requirements such as Huawei SELA/BSTA discussions.
• Promote automation tools (UNICORN dashboards, CQ dashboard, DCR dashboard, issues dashboard, 3LS dashboard) and maintain program dashboards, RTM and issue logs.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced staff.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, software engineering, information systems or a related field, or commensurate experience.
• Typically 7-10 years of experience, preferably in systems engineering, computer programming or a related field.
