Solutions Engineer

About the role

Cloudera's Solutions Engineers are the technical leaders of its sales account teams. They secure the technical win in each sales opportunity and build an ongoing relationship with customers so they succeed with Cloudera technologies. The role sits in the Sales Engineering business area at a mid-senior level.

Key responsibilities

• Own the technical sales process from introductory meetings (net new sales) through post-sales, including customer satisfaction, upselling and subscription renewals.
• Discover new use cases for Cloudera's technology and design solutions based on reference architectures and common patterns.
• Demonstrate Cloudera products and present the product roadmap and vision to customers.
• Partner with Account Managers to show the value of a Cloudera solution and advocate for customers' needs to Product Management and Engineering.
• Represent Cloudera externally at conferences, meetups, webinars and blogs.

Required profile

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a customer-facing role, ideally in technical sales.
• University degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• Experience across the data lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design to pilot, implementation and production support.
• Public speaking confidence and excellent written and verbal communication.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Big Data, data warehousing or relational databases; Cloudera Data Platform and Hadoop ecosystem is a plus.
• One or more cloud providers (AWS, Azure or GCP); certification is a plus.
• Spark, Kafka, Flink, Hive, Impala, Kubernetes and foundational DevOps or MLOps experience.
• Unix/Linux, Java/Python or similar scripting, and knowledge of operations, security and data governance.
