Staff Nurse (Day Ward)

About the role

SingHealth is hiring a Staff Nurse for its Day Ward. The nurse provides clinical nursing care and basic ophthalmic support to surgical patients, including coordination of pre- and post-operative care and patient education.

Key responsibilities

• Administer medication and monitor ECGs, and record accurate medication and treatment notes.
• Assist doctors during treatments, procedures and examinations, including squint re-adjustment and ocular examinations.
• Coordinate pre- and post-operative nursing management for surgery patients and provide patient education on ophthalmic surgeries and health matters.
• Perform intravenous cannulation and venepuncture, and manage nursing care for intravenous pulsed steroid patients.
• Plan and coordinate the availability of instrumentation, equipment and surgical supplies.
• Monitor care delivery to ensure patient safety, handle patient complaints and escalate incidents by submitting documented Incident Reporting Forms.

Required profile

• Diploma in Nursing and registration with the Singapore Nursing Board.
• Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Willingness to work overtime during high patient volumes.

Work schedule

• 5.25 work week (alternate Saturday).
• Two rotating shifts, up to 8pm.
• Closed on Sundays and public holidays.
